This glossary has been collectively created by students in Sociology 4311: Community Based Research at Mount Allison University. Each student was provided with the opportunity to create three glossary definitions rooted in the theoretical and foundational principles that resonate within community based participatory research (CBPR) and these definitions were broken into six themes. By taking a collaborative approach, it transcends the hierarchical dynamics often found in traditional academia. The goal of this glossary is to foster a space of equity where everyone’s voices are heard, very much aligning with CBPR ethics and discourse.
This glossary is a collaborative document as part of course work in SOCI 4311: Community Based Research Methods at Mount Allison University in the Winter of 2024. Course taught by Dr. Katharine Dunbar.
